Is it necessary to cover the yuletide camellia during freezing temperatures?

The plant can take all the cold your area gets and much more. The blooms however may burn if they are open during a freeze, so when it is in bloom cover the plant when a freeze is forecast.

The plant may suffer in the summer heat in your southern area.
