For a houseplant Primrose in 4 inch container: when should it be re-potted to larger container, and should it go to a 6 inch or 8 inch pot?

It's customary to repot into the next sized pot so you can repot into a 6-inch container when the roots of your primrose are overcrowded. You'll see evidence of overcrowding when roots escape through the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. Best wishes with your primrose!
