We purchased a Camellia japonica ?Nuccio?s Bella Rossa?. The catalog calls for Full to Partial Shade while the care tag sun exposure is Full to Partial Sun. We live in Rosarito Mexico south of San Diego and urgently need to know where to plant the Camellia. Please advise. Thanks, Paul |
The ideal growing environment for this plant is filtered sun, although it can be grown successfully in full sun in the cooler neighborhoods of San Francisco and the coastal areas of northern California. In San Diego, it would appreciate protection from afternoon sunshine. Since you're living south of San Diego, a good home for Bella Rossa might be under a canopy of trees and/or on the north or east side of your property where it could be protected from hot sunshine. |
