| Wood ashes can be incorporated into your garden soil at the rate of about 5 pounds per 100 square feet. Ashes are alkaline, so don't pile them up under trees or shrubs that prefer acidic soils, and try not to apply ashes to the same garden spot more often than once every 2-3 years. |
