If it is blooming now, it has been forced into early bloom in the greenhouse. You might see it bloom for several weeks indoors as a houseplant. It is actually a hardy perennial and would probably do better planted outdoors once the weather moderates. While it is indoors, keep the soil slightly moist (not sopping wet) and provide bright light. Keep it out of hot drafts. A cooler room temperature would be best, say 65 degrees, to help the blooms last longer.

As far as the toxicity goes, I would strongly urge you to check with your veterinarian before allowing your cat to graze on it.
