|I live in Chesapeake Virginia. I was told that it is too late to prune my pear trees if they already have small leaves starting to bloom on them. Last year they had alot of pears but the limbs seemed so long they drooped to the ground. Is it ok to prune now?|
|It is too late to do a dormant pruning now but you may be able to do a bit of pruning in early summer. Instead of pruning however it may be that your pear crop needs to be thinned, which is removal of some of the immature fruit. This is done routinely every year. The following web page includes a good description of how to do that.
Enjoy your pears!
