Lisianthus and Gazania seed should be sown indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date for your area. Set seedlings out after all danger of frost has passed. Both plants are warm season annuals that require full sun. Gazania will accept dry soils once placed outdoors. Verbena is a hardy perennial that requires full sun. Sow seeds outdoors when weather has warmed or, for earlier bloom, sow indoors 2-3 wks. prior to setting out in the spring. Balsam is a warm season annual that requires partial shade. Sow seed per instructions for Lisianthus and Gazania. Prunella, in the mint family, is easily grown from seed or cuttings; they often multiply by self-sown seed, and some types can become a nuisance. They like slight shade in dry soils, full sun in moister soils.
