|I want to plant a small up-right growing tree which is very near my house in front of the kitchen window. It is closely bordered by a low stone wall and the driveway. I need it to grow up rather than out. I now have a dogwood which is dieing from the blight on native dogwoods.I would prefer year round interest. It is the most prominent spot in my small front yard and window.
Looking so forward to hearing what you will suggest. Oh, the house faces south.
|Ornamental pear trees provide four-season interest and remain small enough to complement small yards. Other suggestions include Acer circinatum (vine maple), Chionanthus (fringe tree), Crepe Myrtle or one of the smaller hawthorns. You might even consider training a camellia or holly into a tree form. Hope one of these suggestions fits the spot!|
