The plant did very well last year, but the bark on the plant seems to be peeling off this spring. Is this normal? It is green under the peeling bark. Thank you, Katrina

What you describe can indicate winter injury, or it could be perfectly normal, especially if what you're seeing is on the oldest stems and lower down on the plants. It is normal for old stems to have a peeling, cinnamon-colored bark. It's part of the attractiveness of the plants.
