I am new to Lubbock, TX - My garden centers tell me that almost nothing that flowers can be grown here and then be expected to come back the next year, other than roses. And that I should plant annuals for color. Is this true? Or, can you give me some other options?
Sincerely,
Dana

Dana,

Well I certainly think that you have many more options than just roses! I suggest you contact your County Extension Office and ask for the agent or a Master Gardener to advise you as to what does best in that area.
