I am interested in learning successful handling of gardenias that I intend on keeping indoors until the summer months and potted throughout the year. I live in northern Delaware and I believe these beautiful shrubs are a bit tricky to maintain and ensure their survival. Are there any tips for the successful longevity of my gardenias so I can experience a long blooming season and a long-living healthy plant?

Susan,

Gardenias need a lot of light so almost full sun to half day shade is good. In winter give them the most light you can. Fertilize with a soluble plant food every few weeks following label instructions. Keep the soil moist but not continually saturated.
