Do you know what type of bean (pole or bush) the large lima beans are? I have been researching, and so far what I've come up with is that they are Fordhooks (which are bush), and not the baby Fordhooks, or even

For germination and variety quality control and more consistent results you should probably use seed sold specifically for planting from a reputable seed company. If you purchase your seed in larger quantities than the retail packet you will pay a much lower price per seed. Your local farm/seed supply store may have them, or you may have to try mail order. Seed companies such as Stokes and Johnny's Selected Seeds offer seeds in varying quantities so you should be able to find what you need -- you can buy a retail sized packet or by the thousand pound lot -- or anything in between such as a pound at a time. They have Fordhook bush limas as well as several others. Go in through the "commercial" category and search for lima to bring up the results.

Good luck with your lima beans!
