| Many maples are susceptible to a disease called verticillium wilt. It affects the entire vascular system and results in the death of the tree. Verticillium is a soilborne fungus that's almost impossible to eradicate. You may want to find a replacement tree other than a maple if you want to replant in the same spot. |
