What can I do about weeds growing through my fence? - Knowledgebase Question

I have a wooden privacy fence separating my yard from the yard behind me. The yard behind me is a vacant house where the lawn service maintains the grass, but leaves the shrubs, bushes, ivy and weeds along the fence line. These are growing out of control and I don't believe I can do anything to them since they are not on my property. Is there any way to treat the fence or the area on my side of it so that these plants do not grow through and choke out my plantings?

Susan,

Not really. Your only option is to trim them as they cross the line onto your property. Perhaps you can get in touch with the owner of the property and work out something.
