I purchased 6 ft Arborvitae shrubs for a terrace garden. The containers are 22.5 |
In my experience, the larger the container the better. The reason is that home growing conditions are not as carefully controlled as they are at a commercial nursery. The roots really need more room to expand, and a larger container also holds moisture longer so you do not need to water quite as often. In addition, the larger container provides better insulation for the roots during the winter. This is important for protection from extreme cold and also important for insulating against oscillating soil temperatures. If possible, move them to at least a "half whiskey barrel" size container. |
