I have three large Purple Queen Bougainvilleas. Your tag says 5 Patio Tree. I need to know what size pot to buy for them and what kind of soil to use to plant them. They will be up against the house but need to be in containers.
What are the planting instructions for this case?
Thank you for your prompt reply,

Karen,

Move them up to the next larger size pot and then continue to do so each time the plant's width reaches more than 2/3 the width of the pot. This will allow the plant to keep growing larger. Use a quality potting soil when resetting the plant in a larger container and set it at a depth so that the soil line stays the same, in other words not too shallow or too deep.

Whenever you like you can stop moving the plant to larger containers and the size will not get a lot larger as root ball size will determine how large the plant can become. The smaller the container a plant is kept in the more often you will have to water and fertilize to keep it healthy.
