|I live in zone 7 and just planted some Daisy Gardenias that have started to bloom. I am concerned, though, because I just realized that these plants are meant for zone 8. Are these gardenias doomed or is there anything that I can do to protect them in the winter?|

You can cover plants on very cold nights but this may be rather tedious. If you try covering them use a good thick blanket and provide a support to avoid breaking plant branches. Allow the cover to drape to the ground rather than wrap it around the plant base. This allows soil heat to rise up beneath the cover. An alternative is to plant your gardenia in a large container so it can be moved to a warmer, protected area on very cold nights.
