| I purchased this plant last year from the TWIN POND FARM GARDEN CENTER, followed your instructions explicitely, but at this writing nothing has come up..I at Zone 7-8. What gives? |
| Polystichum setiferum (P. angulare) should be reliably hardy in your area. (Your zip code places you in USDA winter hardiness zone 6B, or the warmest part of zone 6. If your microclimate is a very sheltered and protected one, it might be as warm as zone 7a or the coldest part of zone 7.) Ferns typically begin to leaf out a few weeks after the last spring frost, so it may be a bit early to see this one yet. Ferns usually need an evenly moist, humusy and organic yet well drained soil for best results. If the site has been very dry this spring due to lack of rain or if it was very wet and saturated over the winter, it might have caused a problem. If you are still unsure, you might contact your retailer for assistance. I hope it comes back for you. |
