|My 2-yr-old pear tree showes damage on leaves. Edges wrinkled and holes and blisters in middle of leaf. Yellow-orange powder on my fingers when I rub the leaves.|
|There are a variety of things that could be happening. Wrinkled edges could be caused by thrips, miniscule insects that do their damage when leaves are forming, and it shows up later as the leaves mature. Many sap-sucking insects could be making the holes, depending on the size. The powder may be some type of rust fungus. Without seeing the leaves, it's difficult to make an accurate diagnosis. Look carefully for any insects that might be on the plant. I suggest you take samples of the foliage and any insects to your County Cooperative Extension office. They can ID the problem and provide recommendations. Bernalillo County Cooperative Ext., 1510 Menaul NW, ABQ, 87107, 505-243-1386. Good luck!
