I have a joseph's coat rose bush that I transplanted 4 years ago. In the old yard, it was beautiful. I had had the bush for 3 years there and every year it had bloomed all summer, with the blooms starting out deep red and changing many colors until they died a light yellow. When we moved, I took the bush with me and planted it in the new yard. For the past 4 years, it puts out many, many blooms in late April (right now it has about 40) and then doesn't bloom again for the rest of the season. The blooms are also very small and are deep red, and never change colors. Any ideas??? |
Unfortunately, based on your description, I think the grafted portion of the plant -- the Joseph's Coat rose -- has died off leaving only the root stock behind. The small red once blooming roses would be from the root stock. You would need to purchase a new plant to regain the Joseph's Coat blooms. I'm sorry. |
