|I have several pine trees that have been cut up from the bottom and would like to plant something inexpensive under them. Right now I have some hostas I planted 2 years ago and they are doing very well. I would like something with color. I had bark under the trees for years and have recently removed all the bark and would like to have some flowers/plants under them.|
|I'd plant Vinca minor (periwinkle), Lamium (dead nettle), or Sweet Woodruff as a ground cover and then add hydrangeas or azaleas as shrubs. You can even try some flowering annuals at different times of year - impatiens, violas, lobelia, etc.
