We bought four monrovia cypress trees a couple months back. They seem to be doing well but the needles in the center of the tree are turning yellow. Are we not watering enough or are they getting to much water. They are in full sun most of the day. Thanks. |
Without seeing the plants, it's difficult to diagnose a problem. Blue Italian Cypress is subject to mite infestations so you may want to inspect for pests (hold a piece of white paper near the center and shake the branches. Look for pepper-sized flecks. If they crawl, they're probably spider mites and you'll need to control the population before they overtake your trees. If you cannot find insect pests, you may need to adjust your watering routine. Try watering deeply once each week during the growing season. If you build a watering basin beneath each and fill the basin with water, allow it to drain, then fill it a second time, you'll be concentrating the water over the root mass and as it trickles down it will wet the entire root mass. Once a week should be sufficient; twice a week if the weather is hot. Best wishes with your garden! |
