How do I keep mushrooms from popping up in my garden? I do not want to use a fungicide for this problem. Thanks, Donna |
Mushrooms or toadstools and similar fungus grow on decaying organic matter. For example, sometimes they are feeding on a decaying tree root underground or sometimes they grow on a wood based mulch or in a wood based potting medium. They do not harm living plants. You not need to do anything to stop them, they are part of the natural processes in the garden. If they look ugly you can rake off the surface growth. They tend to appear seasonally each year. Eventually they will stop when the wood material has become depleted. |
