| the leaves on my lace-leaf japanese maple very suddenly wilted and dried up. The tree is approximately 30-35 years old. It's been potted in an oversized plastic container for about 5 years and in the same location for the same amount of time. Most of the branches appear to be dead,however there are still a few green branches. Is this due to some kind of a disease? Can I contact someone in my area? Thank you. |
| I would certainly contact your local Cooperative Extension office for help. Maples are susceptible to a disease called verticillium wilt in which the leaves suddenly wilt. Helpful people at the Extension office can do some tests and inspect the plant tissues microscopically to provide answers to the problem.
