|we planted a tree about 2 monts ago. it is not doing good the leaves have been turning brown and some leaves are green at the end and brown on the tip. are we not watering enough or too much. do you think it could be a disease. we have 3 of these trees and both have the same problem. please help and thank you -alice|
Both dry soil and soggy wet soil conditions cause loss of roots and loss of growth at the top and periphery of the tree. A newly planted tree has a confined root systems and is especially vulnerable. It is a tricky matter keeping it adequately moist with regular watering without watering too much and creating a waterlogged condition in the planting hole and surrounding soil. You may need to dig down a few inches into the root ball area to feel the soil in order to get a better idea how much and how often to water during this first critical summer when the tree is trying to establish a more extensive root system.
