I live in an apartment complex and they do not take care of the shrubs very well: two of the rhodies in the front of our house, facing West, are ill. One is losing it's foliage on the bottom half and has brown strips running thru the middle and no production. the other has the same brown strips running thru the middle of the leaves and seems some what healthy yet very little flowers. I put down some rhody food and deep water to see if that helps---advice please

thanks
Tom

Rhodies are subject to many fungal diseases and a few insect pests. What you describe could be the latter stages of a disease, or simply the result of sun scorch. For positive identification of the problem, and control recommendations, take a sample of the affected leaves to your local Cooperative Extension Service or Master Gardener Clinic (usually at Farmer's Mkt's). Helpful folks there can help you solve the problem. Best wishes with the rhodies!
