I recently purchased one of your meyer lemon trees at a local nursery. I have it in its original container which is in a decorative pot on my patio. When I brought it home 3 weeks ago it had many fragrant blossoms. As those blossoms have died off no new ones have bloomed. Also some of the small lemons turned yellow and dropped off. This doesn't seem right to me! It's in a spot that gets direct morning sun and afternoon sun until about 2 or 3 and I'm watering it daily. Help -- what am I doing wrong? |
Most plants will go through an adjustment period when they are moved and brought home from the nursery. They have to adapt to the new growing conditions. Part of what you are seeing is probably due to this process. Also, these trees will typically have many more blooms than fruit, and then usually do not carry all of the fruit to maturity; this is a self pruning type of process so the plant carries only as much fruit as it can support.
