Nearly all the hydrangeas would be deciduous. There is an evergreen hydrangea vine, Hydrangea seemani. This plant is rarely available and in any case is only winter hardy to zone 8 so it would not survive your New York winters. There is another related plant sometimes commonly called an evergreen hydrangea, Dichroa febrifuga. This is in the same plant family (Hydrangeaceae), but it is not technically a hydrangea. (It also defoliates when temperatures reach the mid 20's.) I hope this answers your question. |
