| According to the Kemper Center web site (from the Missouri Botanical Garden) the fruits of Cornus kousa are edible. The Plants for the Future Database (You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.) http://www.ibiblio.org/pfaf/cg... also describes them as edible both raw or cooked, but in a quick search I am not able to locate any recipes. In my experience, the birds usually harvest them promptly so it may be difficult to find ripe ones to pick in quantity. If you do pick them, be sure the tree has not been sprayed or treated with a systemic. I hope this answers your question. |
