Why are the leaves on my blood red japanese maple turning green. It gets 8 hours sun and regular watering.

Very interesting indeed. Usually that is due to a lack of light intensity. Foliage of Japanese maple cultivars that are red will often turn greener as it matures and in the summer heat. The red color will return with the arrival of cool fall weather and again on the new spring growth.
