|Magnolia virginiana can grow to about twenty feet tall and wide so you would want to plant it at least ten to fifteen feet away from a building. These will do better in a sheltered location with protection from winter wind and where the soil stays evenly moist. This tree is considered to grow at a medium rate, so you might see it grow one to two feet a year depending on the growing conditions and the weather each year. I should also mention that in your area this tree will be deciduous rather than evergreen.
