I have an azelea bush that appears to have black spot similar to that which I've just noticed on my rose bush. Can I spray the azelea bush with orthenex also. Should I cut the azelea bush back if stem shows signs of fungus.
|Unfortunately, based on your description I am not able to diagnose the black spots on your azalea. You need to have a firm diagnosis before you try to treat it. I would suggest you consult with your local county extension to get an identification of the problem, and based on knowing that, determine how to proceed. If it is something that requires a chemical control, they will have the most up to date information on what to use and how/when is best to apply it for maximum results. They may appreciate photos of the overall plant and close-ups of the spots, or a freshly cut sample stem with foliage enclosed in a plastic bag and kept cool so it stays fresh. I hope it is nothing too serious. In the meantime, avoid wetting the foliage if you water and clean up any fallen foliage and dispose of it in the trash to try to limit sources of reinfection.
