| Hydrangeas are not normally hosts to many insects; aphids, and spidermites are the two most common, but those you can typically see and they don't produce brown spots. I think your plant is exhibiting signs of a disease rather than insect damage. So, unless you actually see insects on your plant, I'd hold off on spraying with Bug Be Gone. Leaf spots can be caused by fungal diseases but without seeing the plant, it is difficult to identify the problem. You might try removing the leaves with spots on them (to keep fungal spores from splashing or blowing onto healthy leaves). Make sure your hydrangea is getting adequate morning sunshine and try not to get water on the leaves when you water your plant. Removing some of the leaves will open the plant up to better air circulation, which will help it avoid disease problems in the future. Best wishes with your hydrangea. |
