There is a wide variety of indoor houseplants available. Your selection should be based on the amount of light at the spot where you will place the plant. Here are some that are relatively easy to grow. Plants for dim light would include Chinese evergreen, Sanseveria and English ivy; plants for medium to bright but indirect light would include African violet, philodendron and spider plant; and plants for very bright direct light would include jade plant, cactus, and weeping fig (Ficus benjamina). The amount of humidity indoors (especially in winter when the heating sustem dries out the air) will affect how well your plants do; most will need supplemental humidity to grow their best. Plants also generally do better when placed in an area with good air circulation but not in direct hot or cold drafts.
