I have several macho ferns growing between rocks. Most of them presents spores under the leaves and some of them started to lose the foliage leaving just the empty stems. Is the dying a normal progress after releasing the spores and if so, will they all die, or it might be a desease? |
'Macho Fern' is Nephrolepis biserrata, a giant sword fern. The spores are part of the maturing process and so is the dying of the older leaves. As long as you see new foliage emerging from the center of the plant, all is well with your Macho ferns. You can cut off the older lower leaves to keep the plants attractive and to encourage healthy new growth. Enjoy! |
