|I live in northern Wisconsin. My petunias do great in late May and through June and early July. By Mid-July they are very leggy with hardly any flowers on them. What am I doing wrong?
|Petunias will grow and flower best if you pinch off the spent flowers, along with a few inches of stem. As you pinch, you're encouraging the plants to branch out and develop more flowers. If you allow the flowers to develop seeds, all of the plant's energy will go into making seeds rather than new flowering stems. Keeping the spent flowers pinched off will keep them blooming all season long. Best wishes with your garden!
