My Son a resident of Atlanta Ga. is trying to purchase a Crimson King Maple Tree to plant at his residence just outside the city of Atlanta - He is having trouble locating this type of tree at all local nurseries and is wondering if this tree can survive in a Southern climate like Atlanta's - Thank You for your response

You are correct. The Atlanta climate is too warm for this particular tree so that is probably why he can't find it locally. The "October Glory" maple would be a much better choice and has terrific fall color. His local professional nurseryman should be able to recommend a tree(s) for him to plant based on knowing the growing conditions in the spot where he wants to plant and also his overall design goals.
