My Yochino Cherry tree is dropping yellow leaves with holes. We have had very hot weather and not much rain during the late spring and early summer. Is this normal? |
The yellowing leaves might be a result of stress from your hot weather, or they could indicate the beginnings of a fungal disease called shot hole. The disease starts with small green then brown spots on the leaves; the tissues fall out, leaving round holes. If this sounds familiar, you might want to take a few leaf samples to your local Cooperative Extension office or nursery for complete diagnosis and control suggestions. Best wishes with your cherry tree! |
