My Yochino Cherry tree is dropping yellow leaves with holes. We have had very hot weather and not much rain during the late spring and early summer. Is this normal?

The yellowing leaves might be a result of stress from your hot weather, or they could indicate the beginnings of a fungal disease called shot hole. The disease starts with small green then brown spots on the leaves; the tissues fall out, leaving round holes. If this sounds familiar, you might want to take a few leaf samples to your local Cooperative Extension office or nursery for complete diagnosis and control suggestions.

Best wishes with your cherry tree!
