Does machilus thunbergii grow well in Ventura County zones i.e. Sunset zones 20-24?

Machilus thunbergii (Persea thunbergii) is related to the camphor tree and avocado. It is a large, fairly fast growing tree with thick, glossy leaves and tiny yellowish flowers. It is from Japan, China and Korea and will grow well in Sunset zones 14-24.
