I planted a purple fringe flower and it turned green. So is that shock, soil or ..? The plant is doing great, it has been flowering and looks good. The wife thought we might be doing somthing wrong with water or soil. The soil is a loam that has been cleaned, and I think maybe pulled out of a canal when they cleaned them. Thank You for all the help all of you have been.

Glad we've been helpful in the past - hope we continue into the future! Purple fringe flower can sometimes change from purple to green in hot afternoon sunshine, or if the sun is reflected onto the plant from a wall or window. If you can provide afternoon shade for your shrub it will regain its purple color. Or, if you can't move the plant or provide shade, you can enjoy the purple coloring in the springtime until it fades to green.

Best wishes with your garden!
