Loosing my yard - Knowledgebase Question

We have bermuda grass and have a professional company that has been treating it for 3 years. Last year I noticed a brown area it looks like it is burnt(no grub worms) this year it has taken over 3/4 of my back yard. PLEASE HELP I use to have such a nice back yard now I feel like I have none. The ground is hard and so who wants to play on it; their are only birds and rabbits no dogs in our yard.

Susan,

The problem in your yard may be due to soil compaction or a fungal disease. I can't make a good educated guess without seeing photos and a sample both of which we are unable to receive in our Q&A system.

I suggest that you take a sample from the turf along with a photo of the yard area (if possible) to your County Extension Office to see if they can help diagnose the problem and recommend an appropriate course of action. Their contact information is:
