We are planting a new garden and to give some privacy can you recommend trees to plant along a fence, that grow fast? They will get sun most of the day. Would Sloat garden center be the best place to purchase, or is there some growing ground we can purchase?
thank you very much Elizabeth Kelleher

Several large shrubs are suitable, both broadleaf evergreen such as laurel, and needled evergreen such as arborvitae. Photinia is always a good choice. It's fast growing and the new leaves are red in spring, changing to green when mature. Other suggestions include Abelia, Leyland cypress, Holly, Myrica californica (Pacific wax myrtle), and Viburnum.

Sloat Garden Center is one of the local retailers carrying Monrovia stock and it would be great place to find just the trees or shrubs you're looking for.
