|I had a beautiful Loquat tree about 12 ft tall and very full. It was uprooted
and fell over during a hurricane two years ago. It has since returned to good
health, after cutting off the dead branches, fertilizing, etc. Now, it has
healthy growth around the bottom third, and more at the top. The middle 4 ft of
the tree (where the dead branches were cut off), is bare except for the trunk.
Is there any way to get growth started again in the middle section?
|It's hard to say without inspecting the tree whether or not there is a possibility of it regenerating growth in the bare area. It may even out its growth as it continues to recover from its ordeal. I'd give it another year to show signs of regrowth. If it doesn't produce new shoots by then, it may never and you might want to find a replacement with a better shape and form.
Best wishes with your landscape!
