|We purchsed a Fragrant Olive earlier last fall and left it in the container. The new leaves from this spring have curled and just recently placed the plant in our flower bed and noticed the new leaves that are growing are also badly curled.
What do we need to do to correct this problem?
|Several things can cause leaf curl in osmanthus. Aphid feeding is the most common so inspect your plant carefully for evidence of these pests. Second on the list of causes is inadequate moisture. Plants growing in containers can sometimes develop air pockets within the root mass. Even though you think you're watering thoroughly, there still might be some root areas that are experiencing droughty conditions. Now that youre fragrant olive is in the ground, it should alleviate this problem.
Finally, it's unusual with osmanthus, but a fungal disease can produce the same symptoms. However, the leaves eventually turn yellow and the plant looks sickly when it is harboring a fungal disease.
Hope this information helps you determine just what might be causing the curling leaves on your fragrant olive.
