Hi ,I live in a suburb of Chicago,Illinois and I am having SEVERE problems with my lawn . I was wondering if you know of a soil testing organization in my area that I may contact by phone or email? Also would you know of any organizations that would have some one actually come out to make a personal and accurate diagnosis of what may be going on with my lawn?I have had several problems over 20 years with my lawn and have been told it has everything from grub damage,to over fertilization,to drought damage and now heat fungus.I just had Kentucky Bluegrass blend sod put in in May of this year,4 months ago and it is rapidly turning brown in patches and spreading and dying since August.I am so disgusted and am looking for that magical person(if one exists) that will tell me EXACTLY what is wrong and how can I fix it.Any info you can give me will be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.Thank You Edwina

You should be able to get a soil test kit by mail through the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension (815-235-4125). They can also diagnose problems if you take a sample (roots, soil, plus both healthy and dead or dying grass). If you phone them they will explain how to take a sample. They might also know of someone willing to come out and diagnose your lawn problem.

Best wishes!
