I have a crape myrtle with a small case of powdery mildew disease. If I do not treat it this year, and my tree goes dormant, can I expect that this current case of PM will not affect my tree when it awakens next spring?
Or is it something that I must treat now to avoid future problems.

Powdery mildew occurs when weather conditions are favorable to it. Some varieties of crepe myrtle are more susceptible than others, so yours might or might not contract it occasionally or every year. To help reduce the chances, clean up and dispose of all the fallen foliage this fall. Then keep an eye on it next year.
