|I am looking for a short, easy to take care of tree that will attract hummingbirds and butterlies. I read about the Halleria Lucida which looks perfect but was wondering whether it would do well in this climate. It's not uncommon for the temps to get into the high teens in Winter and as low as single digits every 5-10 years. I am in the West Hills area.
I was wondering if you carry this tree and if not what you might recommend as an alternative.
Thanks very much in advance!
|Halleria Lucida is native to South Africa and is hardy only to about 20F. You'd be taking a chance growing it in your garden but you might be able to grow it in a container and winter it over indoors. I cannot find a plant source for you but a web search turned up the following seed selling website:
I'm sure there are other online sources. Best wishes in your search.
