Many commercially sold spruces are seed grown and some are grafted. However, it is also possible to root a tip cutting from a spruce. Depending on the type of spruce it is, you might have better success taking the cutting in the winter or in mid summer. Here are some instructions on how to take cuttings from shrubs, the techniques would be similar for tree. You may need to cut and paste the url into your browser to make it work correctly.
