|I am thinking about planting a front Island Flowerbed with a number 20-26 Flame Kaffir Lillies. None of the listed garden centers even know what the plant is, they claim they do not carry it. My Area is shade under oaks, dry sandy with a slight loam. I will make the soil conditions what they need to be. Will these provide evergreen interest? What is the best time to tranplant these? If this plant is likely to be what I need, where could I buy this bulk?|
Sorry for the delayed reply. Kaffir lilies are rated to hardiness zone 9 and you are apparently in zone 8b so they may be a bit too risky. However that said, fall is an okay time to transplant them if you can provide adequate winter protection. You may need to mail order them since I doubt local nurseries would carry them this time of the year. They are more available in spring when they are sold in bloom.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
