I have a 25' long fence with a planter in front of it that is only 1 foot wide by 2 ft deep, although there is earth below the planter. I would like to plant something along the length that would grow tall enough to cover the fence (which is about 8 feet tall), preferably alittle taller than the fence. I would like it to be an evergreen, flowers and berries are ok or not. Full sun. any suggestions? What do you think about monterey bay brush cherry? I look forward to your thoughts. thank you. |
In such a narrow spot I'd recommend arborvitae (Thuja), Heavenly Bamboo (Nandina), or a clumping type bamboo. You might also consider growing pyracantha or honeysuckle there. Brush Cherry will likely grow too wide for the planter. Or, you could plant a vine such as clematis, wisteria or passion flower, or you could even grow grapes along your fence. Hope one of these suggestions appeals to you! |
